Docteur Vétérinaire (ENV Nantes, 1990), François Beaudeau a travaillé en clientèle vétérinaire rurale, avant de se spécialiser en épidémiologie animale. En 1994, il obtient le titre de Docteur de l’Université de Wageningen (Pays-Bas), après avoir soutenu une thèse intitulée “cow’s health and farmer’s attitude towards the culling decision in dairy herds”. Depuis 1995, il travaille à Oniris (Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire, de l’Alimentation et de l’Agroalimentaire Nantes-Atlantique), en tant que Maître de Conférences (1995-2007), puis en tant que Professeur (depuis 2007) d’épidémiologie quantitative. Depuis 2016, il est Directeur Adjoint de l’Unité Mixte de Recherches « Biologie, épidémiologie et analyse de risque en santé animale ». François est aussi membre spécialiste du Collège Européen de Santé Publique Vétérinaire. Ses travaux, basés sur des approches populationnelles (études observationnelles et modélisation épidémiologique), visent à produire des connaissances pour mieux comprendre et gérer la santé des bovins. Ses contributions récentes concernent principalement la Fièvre Q et l’infection par le virus de la BVD. Il développe actuellement des projets sur des questions scientifiques (maladies zoonotiques, résistance aux antibiotiques) à l’interface santé animale - santé de l’homme selon une approche « One Health-EcoHealth ».
