Antimicrobial Resistance - Pathogen Power - Fish Infectiology (APPIfish)

The APPIfish team conducts works to improve understanding of the pathogenic bacteria and for a better apprehension of the health of aquaculture organisms.

Context and Issues

Objectives

  • A better understanding of the genetic and phenotypic variability of isolated pathogenic bacteria in fish farms,
  • A better understanding of the persistence of the infectious agent in livestock by identifying potential reservoirs,
  • A better understanding of the immune interactions between the pathogen and its host.

The final objective is to better understand the control strategies of two bacteria Yersinia ruckeri and Flavobacterium psychrophilum by developing prophylactic means and limiting the use of antibiotic-type inputs.
